Former PONY Field Director Lonnie Bristor receives award

Longtime PONY Field Director and Wall of Famer Lonnie Bristor was presented an award by Washington Youth Baseball yesterday, which recognized his 50-plus years of service to the youth baseball community of Washington, Pennsylvania. Beginning this season, the award will be placed on the press box at Lew Hays Pony Field in Washington Park. 



A 1988 inductee into the PONY Baseball and Softball Wall of Fame, Bristor was a PONY Field Director in the East Zone for 38 years. Also previously receiving the Joe E. Brown Community Service Award, Bristor annually served as a coach with Washington Youth Baseball. He managed the 1972 Pony World Series and coached the 1981 Palomino World Series teams from Washington, respectively. He served as the Assistant Tournament Director for the 2005-06 Palomino World Series in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He has been a longtime member of World Series Tournaments, Inc.'s Board of Directors and has helped out on the grounds crew for the Pony League World Series. In 1990, Bristor was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Washington-Greene County Chapter.
