Levittown, Puerto Rico wins Colt Caribbean Zone title

John Matthew Perez, Erick Gonzalez and Adrian Colon combined to toss a one-hit shutout, as Levittown, Puerto Rico won the Colt Caribbean Zone title for the second-consecutive year, after beating Panama (Host) 1-0 in the tournament's championship game in Panama City, Panama. Levittown scored the game's only run in the bottom of the first inning, when Hecniel Rodriguez scored on a passed ball. Neither team had a hit through four innings in the contest, and the only hit of the game for the Puerto Ricans came in the bottom of the sixth by Derreck Gippson.

As the Colt Caribbean Zone Champion, Levittown (7 Baseball Club) has received the Zone's automatic bid to the Colt World Series in Marion, Illinois, where the team will defend its title. Puerto Rico will face the winner of Game #1 between the PONY East Zone Champion and PONY West Zone Champion in Game #8 on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 8 p.m. CT/US. The Colt World Series begins Friday, Aug. 2.
