Former PONY Baseball player, Alek Manoah made his MLB debut last night. In 2019, Manoah was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1st Round (11th overall) of the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft from West Virginia University.
In 2008, Manoah led his Tamiami Team to the 2008 Mustang World Series Title by going undefeated 5-0 and pitching a complete game shutout of Valencia (William S. Hart), California in the championship game.
One of his favorite memories while playing PONY Baseball was him and his brother Erik would go back and forth from field to field to watch the other play. His brother Erik was drafted to the New York Mets in 2014.
In his MLB debut Alek pitched 6 innings. Out of the 88 pitches he went for 60 strikes, and he registered first pitch strikes to 15 of the 22 batters he faced.
Congratulations Alek!
