Ukrainian Baseball team did not lose hope

PONY Baseball and Softball is hosting its European Zone Championship Tournament in Prague, Czech Republic. These teams are playing to earn a bid to either the Pony League World Series or the Colt World Series. There are a total of 26 teams from various countries. Amongst these teams is a Ukrainian Baseball team.

The baseball field is a place athletes can escape from the outside world and find camaraderie and sportsmanship amongst one another. Combined with healthy competition and discipline, the field allows players to learn more about themselves and have values instilled in them for a lifetime. For the Ukrainian Baseball team, their world was turned upside down by the invasion of Russia. In the face of uncertainty in a war-torn country, this team did not lose hope. For the love of the game, they utilized their instilled values to keep playing.

The organizers from Eagles Praha have provided the team with free lodging and some necessities. The Czech Baseball Association provided the team with free meals.

“With the unfortunate events that are taking place in the country of Ukraine, I am delighted to hear this team came to the European Zone Championship Tournament,” stated Abraham Key, PONY President and CEO. “It’s inspiring what they have accomplished in the face of adversity and am grateful for organizations that helped make this possible for the Ukrainian Baseball team.”
