Day 4 of the 2025 Mustang World Series
Game 14: Weslaco, TX (14) vs. Shenzhen, China (1)
Weslaco, Texas wasted no time seizing control on Monday, putting up runs early and never looking back in a dominant 14–1 win over Shenzhen, China at the Youngsville Sports Complex. The scoring started in the top of the first when Kaleb M. grounded out to bring in the game’s first run. Gian J. followed with a two-run single, and Duke V. capped the inning with a sacrifice fly, giving Weslaco a quick 4–0 lead.
Weslaco poured it on in the second inning, erupting for seven runs on four hits. Aaron Z. started the rally with an RBI groundout, Kaleb added an RBI single, and Gian came through again with a two-run single. Duke delivered another sac fly, and a fielding error tacked on another run. Jordan Q. finished off the inning with an RBI single, pushing the lead to 11–0. The offense kept rolling in the third, with Carlos C. singling and Duke smacking a double to drive in more insurance runs.
On the mound, Evan H. set the tone early for Weslaco. The right-hander allowed just two hits and one unearned run over two innings, striking out five and walking none. Dael G. came in out of the bullpen and was sharp, tossing 1.2 hitless innings without issuing a walk. Offensively, Weslaco tallied 10 hits as a team. Gian J., Jordan Q., and Aaron Z. each collected two hits, with Gian and Duke V. each driving in four runs to lead the way. Weslaco’s speed was also on full display, swiping six total bases—two apiece from Aaron and Jordan.
Shenzhen, China managed just two hits in the game, coming from Yundong T. and Bangrui X. Yundong drove in the team’s lone run and went 1-for-2 at the plate, while Bangrui showed off his speed with a pair of stolen bases. Weslaco, TX now turns its attention to the next round with confidence after a commanding team performance in all phases of the game.
Weslaco, TX will play West Covina, CA in the 2025 Mustang World Series Championship Game on August 4th at 11:30AM. Congratulations to Shenzhen, China on their 2025 Mustang World Series Appearance! The team finished with a 2-2 record.
Championship Game: West Covina, CA (1) vs. Weslaco, TX (8)
A five-run outburst in the top of the fourth proved to be the difference as Weslaco, Texas pulled away for an 8–1 win over West Covina, California on Monday at the Youngsville Sports Complex. Scoreless through three innings, Weslaco’s offense erupted in the fourth. Liam C. kicked things off with a double down the left field line, quickly followed by RBI doubles from Duke V. and Zayiel F. Jordan Q. kept the rally alive with an RBI single, and Evan H. grounded out to bring in another run, capping a five-run frame that broke the game open.
Carlos C. got the start on the mound for Weslaco and was effective across two shutout innings, allowing just two hits and one walk. Brandon B. started for West Covina and was tagged with the loss, surrendering seven hits and five earned runs over three innings, while striking out two. Offensively, Weslaco, TX tallied 11 hits in the game. Jordan Q., Carlos C., Duke V., and Zayiel F. all had multi-hit performances. Carlos and Zayiel led the team with two RBIs apiece. Weslaco also flashed the leather, turning two double plays to keep West Covina in check.
Robinson B. led the way for West Covina with two hits in three at-bats, while Andrew H. drove in the team’s lone run. Defensively, West Covina was solid, playing error-free baseball. Ethan Y. recorded a team-high six chances in the field.
Congratulations to West Covina, CA on their 2025 Mustang World Series Appearance! The team finished with a 3-1 record. With the win, Weslaco, Texas is the 2025 Mustang World Series Champions!
